Up Coming Swim Meets |
About UsOur training season varies from year to year but once the new Indoor Aquatic centre has been built we will be able to offer a winter season and summer season. Our major fundraising activity is selling Baked Potatoes at various major community events. The club owns a Hot Potato van, affectionately known as “Nellie”, and our committee, parents and senior swimmers all help to raise funds by volunteering their time to work on the stall. Club History Our club has a very proud history over the past 30 odd years. We have produced a swimmer who broke an Australian record, had a number of swimmers in Olympic Trials and Australian Open Championships, and won gold, silver and bronze medals in Australian Age Championships. This club has had swimmers compete at all of the Arafura Games and has had many swimmers win medals at these games, competing against swimmers from up to 15 other countries and the list goes on. The outstanding results of the past years have proven that swimmers from the bush can compete with the best in Australia even on limited pool time availability. We fully intend to ensure that the future will be just as fruitful. We also have a very good support group of parents who work tirelessly to make our club the best. Over past years this group has raised funds to purchase the electronic timing equipment, build the brick control room by the pool, and help subsidize trips away for swimmers to attend carnivals and training camps, and provide coaches with development opportunities. Member Protection Policy The Alice Springs Swimming Club endorses Swiming Australia Ltd's Member Welfare and Child Welfare Policies, copies of which can be found on the SAL website. These policies and guidelines assist in ensuring that every person involved with swimming, is treated with respect and dignity, is safe and protected from abuse. If any member of the club has a complaint regarding inappropriate behaviour, please contact the ASSC Member Protection Officer, Fiona Wright on 0417 854 574, or the Office of Sport & Recreation in the Alice Springs Plaza.
