About Us
Our club is run by a
committee of parents and friends who meet once a month to discuss club
matters, set registration fees for the season, liaise with approved Club
coaches and NT Swimming, plan fundraising activities, and keep records of
all swimmers times. The fees set by the committee go to cover the cost of
pool lane hire, insurance, and NT Swimming capitation fees.
Our training season varies
from year to year but is mostly from early September through to the end of
April or May depending on what swim meets are on in any particular year.
Club History
Our club has a very proud
history over the past 20 odd years. We have produced a swimmer who broke
and still holds an Australian record, had a number of swimmers in Olympic
Trials and Australian Open Championships, and won gold, silver and bronze
medals in Australian Age Championships.
This club has had swimmers
compete at all of the Arafura Games and has had many swimmers win medals at
these games, competing against swimmers from up to 15 other countries and
the list goes on. The outstanding results of the past years have proven that
swimmers from the bush can compete with the best in Australia even on
limited pool time availability. We fully intend to ensure that the future
will be just as fruitful.
We also have a very good
support group of parents who work tirelessly to make our club the best.
Over past years this group has raised funds to purchase the electronic
timing equipment, build the brick control room by the pool, and help
subsidize trips away for swimmers to attend carnivals and training camps,
and provide coaches with development opportunities.
